THANKS FOR HIDDEN PIECE OF HISTORY
Despite being a veteran social studies teacher and long-time admirer of the life and work of Bayard Rustin, I was completely unaware of his time in Saint Paul and the sit-in that took place at the Hamline Hotel. I’ve driven by there a million times and had no idea as to the building’s significance. Now more than ever we need inspiring examples of solidarity and resistance in the face of injustice. I will be sharing the article with my students this coming school year and beyond.
