On Monday, Oct. 6, Saint Paul mayoral candidates Melvin Carter, Yan Chen, Adam Dullinger, Kaohly Her, and Mike Hilborn will gather at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for a forum and meet and greet event hosted by the Highland District Council, FairVote Minnesota, Danger Boat Productions, the Macalester-Groveland District Council, the West 7th Street/Fort Road Federation, the Union Park District Council, and the Summit Hill Association. The forum will be moderated by Tane Danger, Co-Founder of Danger Boat Productions and an experienced, engaging moderator and host.
What: Saint Paul Mayoral Candidate Forum and Meet & Greet
When: 6:30-8:30pm
Where: Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Ave S
The forum portion will be 6:30-7:45 a.m. and will feature questions submitted from the sponsoring organizations and attendees. In the meet and greet portion, from 7:45-8:30 p.m., voters will be free to move about the room and talk directly with the different candidates. This combined approach will help voters get to know candidates beyond what might be learned from their campaign materials or forum answers as they consider how they will be ranking their preferences on the November ballot. It will also help candidates appeal to voters not just for their first choice, but for their 2nd and 3rd choice as well. Under RCV, candidates often need to earn second-choice and third-choice to win votes in order to meet the majority threshold required for victory.
FairVote Minnesota is available as a resource. You can find a calendar of events and additional information for voters, candidates, and endorsing organizations on RankYourVote.org.
