Hamline Elementary and Hamline University are enjoying another year of partnership through the Hamline to Hamline Collaboration. So far this year we’ve welcomed PreK-5th graders to campus for a walking tour led by Hamline University student guides, invited PreK classes to play in the dirt with Hamline University faculty and students at a campus garden, hired 30+ university students as paid math and reading tutors, and enjoyed the good energy of student athletes visiting during Hamline Elementary lunch and recess.
We’re looking forward to continued good work in November with two Business in Society classes working with Hamline Elementary students on two projects to support our neighbors. One class will work with second graders to create cards with positive messages to bring to the Midway Project Food Pantry later this month and the other class will work with fourth and fifth graders to make posters to promote a food/supply donation drive to support the Food Resource Center, located on the Hamline University campus. The FRC is open to the entire university community as well as the broader neighborhood. The food/supply drive runs Nov. 10 - Dec. 1 with collection bins on campus and at Hamline Elementary. We’re grateful for the energetic support of the Hamline University Student Congress and so many others on both campuses.
Neighbors are welcome to contribute to the food/supply drive – please see the list below for items of high need. If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please reach out to Jessica Kopp at jkopp06@hamline.edu.
