In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Mont in September, Planting People Growing Justice Press announced the release of “Miguel Ramos: The Power of Dreams,” a new children’s book highlighting the life, leadership, and perseverance of Puerto Rico native and Minnesota community leader Miguel Ramos.

“Miguel Ramos: The Power of Dreams” introduces young readers to a remarkable story of resilience through adversity. Growing up in Puerto Rico, Ramos learned early the importance of family, hard work, and staying true to his values. When his father died suddenly during his teenage years, Ramos went from working part-time stocking grocery store shelves to working full-time to help support his family. Despite the challenges he faced, he continued pursuing his education by attending college at night while building his career.

His journey eventually brought him to Minnesota. Knowing only a little English, Ramos began by cleaning floors. Through perseverance and a strong work ethic, he became a top salesperson, mentored students in Saint Paul Public Schools, worked for the Minnesota Twins, and launched his own consulting company to help others achieve their goals.

The book is part of Planting People Growing Justice Press’s Difference Makers series, which introduces children to remarkable leaders and empowers young readers to dream big, discover their gifts, and make a difference in their communities.

“Through Miguel Ramos’ story, we want to inspire our youth to move beyond setbacks by leveraging them as a setup for future success,” said Dr. Artika R. Tyner, founder of Planting People Growing Justice. “Miguel is a pillar in our community who demonstrates the power of service and leadership. His journey reminds young people that one person, guided by strong values and a commitment to others, can help change the world.”

Released in recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, “Miguel Ramos: The Power of Dreams” provides families, educators, schools, and libraries with an opportunity to celebrate Latino history and leadership.

Planting People Growing Justice Press is committed to publishing books that educate, inspire, and empower readers.
